This page is intended for users and customers who want to migrate from another test management platform (like a different Jira app, or completely external tool) to QAlity Plus.

QAlity Plus has built-in import capabilities that you can use to import test case definitions from a CSV file. As long as your tool allows you to export your test definitions to a CSV file, you can use it to migrate to QAlity Plus.

Please note that at this point QAlity Plus is only capable of migrating test definitions (also known as test cases). If you would like to retain other data too (for example past test executions or test cycles), you would need to move them manually, or automate this process on your end. If you decide to do so, feel free to contact us for any assistance regarding the migration.

Migrating tests from Zephyr Squad

You cannot export tests from Zephyr Squad directly, however, you can export test executions. Test executions contain information about test names, test steps, test data, and expected results, which are essential data of a test case. Please note that in order for the test to be included there, it must have been executed at least once.

In order to export those test executions click Search Test Executions on the Zephyr Squad menu.

After finding the tests you want to export click the export button in the top-right corner and choose to export to CSV.

Once you have a CSV file with your test definitions, please follow the instructions on how to Import Test Cases to import your test definitions into QAlity Plus. Here’s a sample mapping configuration that you can use while importing your generated CSV file from Zephyr Squad.

In case of any problems at any of the steps, please reach out to our Customer Service Desk. We will gladly assist you with migrating your tests.

Migrating tests from Zephyr Scale

In order to export test case definitions in Zephyr Scale, go to the app and select Tests in the top-right corner.

After selecting the tests you want to migrate, click More and then Export to Excel.

This will create an .xlsx file with your test cases, which you can save as a .csv file using any spreadsheet editor (e.g. Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, or LibreOffice Calc).

Once you have a CSV file with your test definitions, please follow the instructions on how to Import Test Cases to import your test definitions into QAlity Plus. Here’s an example of a mapping configuration that you can use while importing your generated CSV file from Zephyr Scale.

Migrating tests from Xray

Before you can export tests in Xray, you must configure a template that defines how the tests are exported. To do so, open Xray and go to Configure Project, and select the project from which you wish to export tests.

From the settings menu go to Document Generator and click Upload.

Note: If you plan to export tests from multiple projects, you can also configure Document Generator template from a global level. To access it go to Jira Settings → Apps and from the left-hand side menu select Document Generator under Xray section. Templates added there can be used in any project on your instance.

On the template addition modal, you are asked to provide the template that will be used for exporting. The template that exports data in the format accepted by QAlity Plus is provided below.

Download this file and select it in the modal under ‘File’ input.

You can name the template as you wish, for example, Test Export. Make sure that ‘Issue Navigator’ is selected in the ‘Scopes’,Test’ in ‘Entity’, and ‘XLSX’ in the 'Output formats' as shown below.

Once you save the template, you can start the export of your tests. Open Xray from the menu and select Search Test.

This should bring up the Jira issue search view preconfigured to display test issue types. If you wish to export only a portion of your tests, you can select additional filters at this stage. Once you are happy with the filter selection, click on the Xray icon in the top-right corner of the page, which should bring up the Document Generator. In the modal select the previously created ‘Test Export’ template, select XLSX as the output format, and click Export.

Here’s an example of a mapping configuration that you can use while importing your generated CSV file from Xray.

Other tools?

Check if your tool can export tests to a CSV file. As long as you can do that, there’s a high chance that you can import them to QAlity Plus. In case of any issues, don’t hesitate to reach our Customer Service Desk for assistance! We will be happy to check how you can migrate your tests to QAlity Plus with as little effort as possible.
