Migration of Test Cases from Data Center to Cloud
The migration of QAlity Plus Test Cases from the Data Center to Cloud Jira instances is not supported. However, we can offer a workaround by using the Export and Import feature of QAlity Plus.
Please note that using Jira Cloud Migration Assistant (JCMA) to migrate the QAlity Plus Test Cases will result in incomplete data. JCMA will only migrate the Test Case work items themselves, without any additional details such as test steps, test data, or expected results.
Additionally, migrating the test cases through both JCMA and import/export features of QAlity Plus will lead to duplicates of the Test Cases, which is why it is not advised to utilize JCMA to perform the Test Case migration process.
If you have duplicated Test Cases due to utilizing both JCMA and QAlity Plus's own import and export feature for migration purposes, it is suggested to remove the test cases that were migrated by JCMA (those that lack test steps, test data, and expected results).
Both Test Case Import and Export features are available only in QAlity Plus.
Exporting Test Cases
QAlity Plus exporting feature can be used to export test case names, test steps, test data, and expected result fields. This tool does not export all your Jira fields and the Test Attachment field within the test step.
To perform an export in your Data Center instance:
Go to Issues → Search for issues;
Click on the QAlity bulk button,
Select the Export Test Cases option.
Importing Test Cases
The next step consists of importing the CSV file exported from your Data Center instance into your Cloud instance.
Field types that are supported during the import process:
Number fields e.g. 1, 2, 1000
Text Fields e.g. “Lorem ipsum”
User fields e.g. User_Id
Fix version e.g. v1, v2
Component
Select list (single and multi choice)
Assignee
Reporter
Labels
(Fields such as Date picker or Multi user select are not supported right now.)
Open the QAlity Plus app and click on Import (under the Test cases tab).
In the Import Test Cases from CSV files screen, select which project you will be importing the test cases into. Please make sure that the project to which you’re importing the test cases has enabled the QAlity Test issue type in the app configuration (More info on how to enable this issue type can be found here), otherwise, you will encounter a warning telling you to do this before proceeding to the next step.
Next, it is required to map which columns from your CSV file will be used for the Test case name, Test Step, Expected result, and other required fields in your Jira that could be present.
After clicking on Start Import, the import process will begin, and then a summary will be displayed once it's complete. Please do not close your browser while the import is in progress!
If the exported Test Cases contain fields that are not supported by QAlity Plus import, then they can be split into multiple batches containing separate unsupported fields that can be added during the import of each batch with the Bulk change issue option from your Jira Issue navigator:
After completing the steps above, the selected project will now contain all imported test cases, including test steps, data, and expected results, finalizing the import!
Please also note that Test Cycle and Test Execution migration or import/export is not supported. The user can manually recreate only the Test Cycle data.
